Open Doors is an international, interdenominational organization that supports and advocates for Christians who are persecuted for their faith. Open Doors International supports the worldwide organization with services such as Advocacy, DME Program Management,  IT, Finance and HR by working in a service-oriented way with teams and colleagues in countries with an Open Doors Development or Field office. Advocacy at Open Doors aims to address the situation of the Persecuted Church by bringing their plight to the attention of people of political influence and power. The primary objective for this global position is to research and analyze government and international stakeholders policies and strategies. Based upon this analysis impactful recommendations and policy briefs are produced on all countries that are on our global list of most persecuted areas. All of this is done in collaboration with our field teams and international research unit and under the leadership of our Global Advocacy Manager.

Taken

  • Produce country-specific and thematic policy briefs with policy recommendations that can inform key stakeholders internally and influence external bodies (e.g., governments, United Nations, European Union, the media, businesses etc.);
  • Produce and manage the release of concise reports on all focus countries targeting a media and advocacy audience;
  • Monitor trends in the international political arena; building an international network  of contacts working in international institutions and relevant NGOs and think tanks;
  • Provide organizational-wide expertise on key messaging around issues that increases how policymakers respond to our recommendations.

Functie-eisen en profiel

  • Committed Christian with a passion for the Persecuted Church;
  • A relevant master degree, e.g., international law, political science, or international relations;
  • Experience in advocacy research and drafting policy recommendations;
  • Experience in a political environment, understanding different political systems;
  • A proven interest in human rights in general and in Freedom of Religion or Belief in particular.
  • Excellent networking, communication, and writing skills (in English);
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a continuously changing environment;
  • Able to translate objectives and needs into specific priorities and actions.
