Skills for Work and Life
You will work with the Skills for Work and Life programme. This is an Edukans programme for young people which helps them to develop their skills in preparation for work and for meaningful participation in society. Employers are looking for employees with the skills that will be needed tomorrow, for the jobs of the future. The programme focuses on the development of skills which are relevant to the labour market to increase the chances of decent (self) employment. Life skills and entrepreneurship training is an integral part of this skills programme, as these skills empower trainees to get a decent income and enable meaningful youth participation in their communities.

We are looking for a

Intern Entrepreneurship Business Academy
(Amersfoort, start date and duration of internship by mutual agreement)

with Edukans and wants to work with and/or research youth businesses in the context of Edukans’ focus countries (Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Malawi).

The internship in brief

• Internship for 4 - 6 months.
• Education level: MBO, HBO or Master.
• Start of internship: Anywhere from October 2023 till February 2024.*
  *Start date and duration of the internship in consultation.

What are you going to do? You work in the Programmes team and provide content support to the entrepreneurship programme and the Business Academy development:

Specifically, your duties are as follows (they will be adapted to your level):

• Make a review of the current entrepreneurship programme.
• Write a communication piece about the entrepreneurship programme based on interviews of young people that followed the programme.
• Support with the digitalization of the entrepreneurship course (including proofreading, illustrations, content delivery, review, reviewing the course structure, creating the modules on the SkillEd platform)
• Support Edukans with the further development of the entrepreneurship programme and rolling-out Business Academy concept.
• Supporting the skills programme developer with various tasks. Think of participating in an Edukans event or supporting with a project newsletter or report.

Optionally, Edukans also offers the possibility to do your HBO or Master thesis research related to entrepreneurship at Edukans and give you research- guidance and exposure.

In the team you work together with the programme developer and programme manager of the Skills for Work and life programme.

As a team we make sure that our entrepreneurship programme and business academy will support young people in African countries to start and build their businesses to obtain a better income.

In addition to the work-related part, we like it if you tell us about your weekend at the coffee machine, having a nice lunch in the department and thinking about new ideas. You can also expect that from an internship at Edukans.

Functie-eisen en profiel

You fit the profile we are looking for, if you:

…following an MBO, HBO or Master course in the direction of entrepreneurship or business development
…have an interest in international development and especially in skills development or and or entrepreneurship skills for young people in African countries.
…you can express yourself well and write in both Dutch and English (writing English is an advantage)
…you can work independently and accurately and show initiative.
