Your Challenge
War Child Holland invests in a peaceful future for children affected by armed conflict. Our mission is to help war children to change the future. The Research and Development (R&D) department is responsible for developing and evaluating a care system of interventions within child protection, education and psychosocial domain. The department is also responsible for overseeing the development of quality standards, against which quality of care can be assessed in the future. As Research and Development Intern you will undertake a variety of activities to support the ongoing development and research work of the department. For this reason, it is not applicable to conduct your own thesis research projects within the department. NB: this role is based in Amsterdam with no overseas travel.
The Research and Development Intern reports to the Director of R&D and is supervised/maintains regular contact with other members of the R&D team dependant on the activities being undertaken.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting literature reviews including desk, scoping and systematic reviews
  • Giving support to data management and development of data collection tools and methods
  • Supporting the facilitation of workshops (for example prioritisations activities, data collection etc.)
  • Writing of protocols, guidelines and other relevant documents
  • General support activities for the ongoing work of the department.

Functie-eisen en profiel

  • You are a final year or Master student in Social Sciences, International Development, Anthropology, Psychology, Public Health or other relevant field
  • You are currently enrolled in a Dutch higher education institute
  • You have demonstrable knowledge of NGO and/or development sector, preferably through prior work/volunteer experience
  • You have demonstrable knowledge and experience in conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research Interest in psychosocial wellbeing, mental health, child protection, education and/or sustainable development
  • Able to analyse, structure and work with research data
  • Good sense of priorities and time management
  • Excellent command of English language, both spoken and written
  • Self-motivated independent worker with the ability to follow direction and effectively learn
  • Good team working skills Available 3 days per week, for 6-9 months, starting ASAP.

Ons aanbod

  • This internship is for a period of 6 to 9 months for 3 days per week, starting ASAP.
  • As per War Child Intern Policy, fee will be €200 gross per month (based on 5 days). You must already be based in The Netherlands.
  • Please note that an intern at War Child needs to be a registered student at a Dutch educational institution.
