Organisatie

Cordaid is an international organisation for development and humanitarian assistance, working especially in fragile and conflict-affected regions. Guided by Christian values of human dignity, justice and compassion, we work towards a world without poverty and with equitable opportunities for all.

More than 1.9 billion people live in fragile contexts where access to essential services and opportunities is limited. Together with our partners, we support locally led programmes that strengthen healthcare, education, agrifood and justice systems. When crises occur, we work alongside local organisations to provide humanitarian assistance. Cordaid is headquartered in the Netherlands and operates in 15 countries across Africa and Asia.

Our organisation operates through a domain-based model, where regional teams work closest to partners and context, supported by specialised domains that provide technical expertise, quality standards, donor engagement and compliance. This interdependent way of working enables us to combine local ownership with strong organisational standards and deliver effective, context-driven programmes.

Taken

As our experienced and collaborative Finance & Control Lead, you join our Shared Services Unit (SSU) in The Hague. In this key role, you are responsible for governance enablement, financial stewardship, and operational service delivery within the finance domain. Operating as part of Cordaid’s corporate governance and assurance backbone, you translate corporate financial policies, administrative internal controls, and reporting requirements into effective operational processes. By doing so, you safeguard our financial integrity and support our interdependent operating model globally. You report directly to the Director of the Shared Services Unit (SSU).

What you do

  • Financial Reporting & Consolidation: You ensure and produce timely, accurate, and compliant internal and external financial reporting with financial analyses, including consolidated financial statements, management reports, and audit coordination.
  • Financial Administration & Governance: You safeguard an accurate, complete, and efficient financial administration across Cordaid entities and regional structures, including the general ledger and sub-ledgers.
  • Internal Control & Compliance (AO/IC): You evaluate and continuously improve the administrative organization and internal control environment (AO/IC) to optimize governance, mitigate risk, and maintain compliance with applicable tax laws, payroll regulations, and statutory requirements.
  • Cash Management & Stewardship: You monitor liquidity, cash flows, and systemic financial risks, proactively signaling operational or funding-related bottlenecks and advising the SSU Director and CFO on treasury-related matters.
  • Process Improvement & Digital Enablement: You drive service delivery excellence by identifying improvement opportunities in financial systems (ERPx), reporting tools, and administrative processes through automation and workflow optimization.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: You partner closely with Global Practice & Standards (GPS), External Engagement & Relations (EER), Regional Cores, and Humanitarian Assistance (HA) to translate donor compliance and operational priorities into practical financial workflows.
  • Team Leadership & Matrix Coordination: You lead, coach, and support the home-office Finance & Control team while maintaining a functional matrix management line to finance and operations managers across international regional cores.
  • Integrity & Compliance Framework: You implement and showcase relevant aspects of the Cordaid Integrity Compliance Framework, including active risk management and quality management policies, to build a safe, transparent, and accountable working environment.
